Graduates of our sign painting class showing off their chops.
I remember, back when I was a wee apprentice, my master introducing the leap from single-stroke Gothics and casuals to serifed Roman letters, by asking me to pencil draw an alphabet according to classic Trajan rules, as presented in Helm Wotzkow’s The Art of Hand Lettering. I don’t know if that’d be an appropriate exercise for the 201 level of our brush lettering workshops, since they’re more about brush work than letter forms… Any opinions?

Ken and Corinne working on a pseudo-billboard for Slavs & Tatars’ piece in an upcoming art show at CCA’s Wattis gallery. We’re told it says, “to beer or not to beer”, in Arabic.

A photo Scott just happened across, from Tom Doyle’s interview with Foo Fighters in the June 2011 issue of Sound On Sound magazine, shows a sign we designed and painted, apparently has come to live in Dave Grohl’s garage.
Illustration, in progress, of a neon sign, with gold leaf in lieu of neon. Background will be filled with white gold, to mimic antique mirror.
